The James Brown Arena

It's been called one of the loudest, most hostile, most intimidating buildings in the ECHL by opposing coaches and players, but as far as the Augusta Lynx are concerned, there is no place like home. That home is the James Brown Arena, the arena in downtown Augusta that truly gives the Lynx home ice advantage. That advantage is crucial in pro hockey, and no team appreciates that more than the Lynx. Around the ECHL, players, coaches and officials alike agree James Brown Arena is one of the toughest buildings in the league for visiting teams, especially the Lynx' fiercest rivals in the South Division!

The James Brown Arena address is: 601 7th Street, Augusta, GA 30903.

Directions to the James Brown Arena (home of the Lynx):

From the North Take Hwy 1, 25 or 278 and cross the bridge into downtown Augusta. Take a right on Walton way and proceed to 7th street. Take a right. The James Brown Arena will be 2 blocks ahead on the left. From Georgia Avenue, cross the 13th street bridge. Proceed 4 blocks and take a left on Telfair Street. Proceed to 7th St and take a right. The James Brown Arena will be 1 block ahead on the right. From the South Take Hwy 1 or Hwy 25 north to Walton Way. Take a left. Proceed to 7th street and take a right. The James Brown Arena will be 2 blocks ahead on the right. From the West Take 1-20 to exit 199. Take a right and head south on Washington Road to downtown until you reach 7th street. Take a right. The James Brown Arena will be 2 blocks ahead on your right. From the East Take 1-20 to exit 199. Take a left and head south on Washington road to downtown until you reach 7th street. Take a right. The James Brown Arena will be 2 blocks ahead on your right.

James Brown Arena Policies:

  • Doors Open:  The doors at James Brown Arena open one (1) hour prior to the scheduled game time.
  • Behavior:  The Lynx and James Brown Arena management will not tolerate the use of profane language, interfering with the coaches, players or officials or the hampering of the enjoyment of the game by other fans. We feel our fans are first class and we hope we can count on you feeling the same way. We thank you for your cooperation in advance.
  • Throwing Debris:  Throwing any foreign objects onto the ice, at an official or player, or at another spectator is immediate grounds for removal from the arena and for possible arrest. If you witness such behavior, please notify the nearest arena staff member.
  • Patrons with Disabilities:  Seating for persons with mobility impairments are available for all games. Contact the ticket office for more information on obtaining tickets for these areas.
  • Smoking:  The James Brown Arena is a smoke free building. Smoking is allowed in the designated area on the 8th Street Plaza.
  • Alcohol Sales:  Beer, wine and cocktails are available at the James Brown Arena. Georgia law prohibits the selling to or purchasing of alcoholic beverages to anyone under twenty-one (21) years of age. Patrons wishing to purchase alcoholic beverages must show proper ID and receive a wristband before purchasing any alcoholic beverage.
  • First Aid:  The James Brown Arena's First Aid Station is located behind section 105. If you need immediate assistance please contact an usher or a member of the house staff.
  • Patron Services:  The Augusta Lynx hope your hockey experience is a pleasurable one, however should you need our assistance there is a Customer Service Booth located next to the Booster Club booth on the 7th Street side of the building.
  • Resale of Tickets:  Selling tickets at any price on or near the James Brown Arena is illegal, and those indulging in such activity are subject to arrest and prosecution. Anyone attempting to enter the James Brown Arena with a counterfeit or stolen ticket will be refused admission.
  • What You Can Carry Into The James Brown Arena:  Handbags, binoculars, and small hand-held signs (no sticks) are permitted for most events. No need for seat cushions - all seating is comfortable. Gas powered air horns are also not permitted.
  • Cameras:  Hand-held still cameras (no tripods) are permitted for most events; video cameras are not. If in doubt, contact The James Brown Arena ticket office (706-724-2400) in advance.
  • Lost and Found:  Please contact an usher or the Customer Service Booth during the event. To learn if an item has been recovered, call 706-722-3521 the day after the event.
  • Baby Changing Stations:  Baby Changing Stations are provided in the rest rooms on the 7th Street side of the building between portals 26-29 and on the 8th Street side between portals 45-48.
